A Wednesday night and three Thursday clocks

The 20th annual Myrtle Beach Turkey Trot 5K starts at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning, November 26, at Grand Park Lake in Market Common. Online registration closes two hours earlier, at 6 a.m. the same morning. The race takes entries online only.

Book the night of Wednesday, November 25. That one night has you in a room before the 6:45 a.m. bib window opens on Farrow Parkway.

NS PROMOS organizes the race and United Bank presents the event. The visitor listing counts 1,200 runners and walkers, and the registration page showed 1,259 places left on 24 October.

The packet rule that catches a same-day arrival

Packet pickup runs on two days. Wednesday, November 25, 4 to 7 p.m., at a location the race page lists as TBA. Thursday, November 26, 6:45 to 7:45 a.m., at the Grand Park Lake courtyard on Farrow Parkway.

The race page is explicit about the consequence of missing both. A participant who does not attend packet pickup before race morning will not receive the shirt until after finishing the 5K. Only race bibs are handed out before the race on race morning.

A Thanksgiving arrival can still collect a bib between 6:45 and 7:45 a.m. It cannot collect the shirt. Leave the shirt to the Wednesday window, and plan on a Thanksgiving-morning bib collection.

Where the start line sits

The start is the Grand Park Lake Courtyard on Farrow Parkway, 1150 Farrow Parkway, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577, on the Farrow Parkway side between Nevers and Hackler streets.

Parking is free in the Farrow Parking Garage next to Nacho Hippo. Side streets in Market Common are free as well.

There is no water stop on the course. The race page lists post-race water and snacks for participants, and portable toilets sit in the courtyard at Grand Park Lake.

What the entry costs

The registration page prints $50 for the 5K and states the price increases after November 2, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EST. The myrtlebeach.com listing prints $45. Check the total on the registration page before paying.

The Gobbler Kids’ Dash covers 50 yards, starts at 9 a.m. and runs until 9:10 a.m. Entry is free and online registration is still required. Its own registration cuts off at 6 a.m. on November 26.

Rules that change the packing list

Animals are not permitted on the course and produce disqualification. Service animals recognized under the Americans with Disabilities Act are permitted, with notice to staff at bib pickup and a start at the back of the field.

Baby joggers, strollers, skateboards, roller blades and unauthorized bicycles are not permitted on the course and also produce disqualification. Wheelchairs and mobility aids recognized under the ADA are permitted on the same notice-at-pickup terms.

The myrtlebeach.com listing describes strollers as welcome. The registration page is the race’s own document and bans them from the course.

The course is USATF certified. Overall awards use gun time and age-group awards use chip time. Age groups run from 0-10 through 80 and up, in five-year bands from 11 to 79.

Rooms, and the distance that decides the booking

Neither the listing’s hotel block nor our own directory carries a property inside walking range of Grand Park Lake. The nearest entry on the listing’s block is Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark at 1.54 miles. The nearest entry in our directory is the Red Roof Inn Myrtle Beach Hotel - Market Commons at 2801 South Kings Highway, which measures 2.2 miles by road from 1150 Farrow Parkway.

The room decision becomes a drive decision. Parking at Market Common is free in the Farrow garage, so the drive into the start adds no parking cost.

Checkout is the question left open. The 5K window closes at 10 a.m., and a family that wants a shower before the drive home needs a checkout hour agreed at booking. Ask for it in writing.

What to put in the room request

Three details carry this booking. Ask for the night of Wednesday, November 25. Ask for a checkout hour that survives a 10 a.m. finish. Ask whether the desk holds luggage after checkout for a family that wants breakfast in the district.

A request through hotelhuddle goes to 50 or more properties at once, returns answers in 24 to 72 hours, and quotes rates with no markup. Group rates generally begin at 10 rooms a night, and some properties discount from five. A family booking one to three rooms sits below both thresholds, so name the early start in the request and let the property price it.
