Ten days, two Saturdays, one station
The Washington, D.C. Auto Show runs January 22 to 31, 2027 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Allen Y. Lew Place NW. The run holds ten public days and two Saturdays. The building sits atop the Mt. Vernon Square/7th Street-Convention Center station on the Green and Yellow lines, and its entrances lead directly into the convention center.
Two lines, two hotel positions
The Green and Yellow lines put a guest underneath the building. The Red Line serves Gallery Place-Chinatown, which the convention center's operator puts a five-minute walk from the doors. A planner therefore has two defensible hotel positions, and the choice between them is a line choice.
A room at the station removes the daily transit decision. A room at Gallery Place trades that walk for a Red Line station at the door. Both positions answer the same question: how the guest reaches the show floor.
Book the two Saturdays first
The show prices the two weekends apart from the week. Adult admission is $20 on January 23, 24, 30 and 31, and $15 on January 22 and January 25 through 29. That price list is the clearest demand signal the show publishes. It sets the booking order: hold the Saturday nights of January 23 and January 30 first, then fill the weeknights around them.
A household attending one weekend day has two Saturdays to choose from. Both are the nights other visitors want.
The weeknights carry their own events
The building stays busy between the weekends. The convention center's published event list carries the Krewe of Pyros 11th Annual Mardi Gras Ball on January 23, 2027 and Apex 2027 on January 27 and 28. Both sit inside the auto show run and compete for the same downtown rooms, which puts Wednesday and Thursday, January 27 and 28, first in line for a price check. The list covers a short window. A night outside it carries nothing published.
The hours inside those days
Friday, January 22 runs 12 to 9 p.m. Saturday, January 23 runs 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, January 24 runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, January 25 to 28, run 12 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 29 runs 12 to 9 p.m. Saturday, January 30 runs 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, January 31 runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The entrance closes one hour before the show closes, so the final hour of each day closes the door.
Nine nights, and nobody needs nine
January 22 through January 31 is nine nights from the first show morning to the last show evening. A household attending one day needs one or two of them. The two that carry the weekend price are the two to secure. The closing pair, Friday January 29 and Saturday January 30, puts a visitor inside the last weekend with an 11-hour Saturday and an 8-hour closing Sunday. A midweek visitor gets the $15 adult rate and an 8 p.m. close.
Tickets
Adult admission is $15 on weekdays and $20 on weekends. Children 6 to 12 pay $7 any day, and children 5 and under are free. Seniors 65 and older take $2 off a weekend day and $4 off a weekday, students take $4 off a weekday with a student ID, and every discount applies at the door. The show sells tickets through its partner site Eventim and states that tickets from other websites are not valid. Military Tribute Day and Student Day carry no date yet.
Two logistics the show publishes
The show recommends booking parking in advance through SpotHero. The convention center's operator states that it has no public parking and that parking regulations are heavily enforced in the surrounding residential blocks. Attendees pass a security search on entry, and bags, briefcases and backpacks are searched. Both facts argue for arriving with time in hand.
Questions the show leaves open
The show's own pages name no host hotel, no room block, no group rate and no reservation deadline. The ten-day window is therefore a property question. Ask each shortlisted hotel how far ahead it tightens availability across a ten-day run, whether a two-night weekend booking prices differently from a midweek booking, and what the cancellation terms are for a reservation made now for January. A planner who needs ten or more rooms can put the requirement out through hotelhuddle: one request reaches more than 50 hotels in the destination, submission is free, responses arrive in 24 to 72 hours, and the rate carries no markup.
Where to start
Start with the station. A room on the Green or Yellow line puts a guest in the building without a street crossing, and a room at Gallery Place puts a guest five minutes from the door on the Red Line. Then take the two Saturday nights, January 23 and January 30, before the weeknights, and check January 27 and 28 against the building's calendar. The show closes Sunday, January 31 at 6 p.m., with the entrance shut an hour earlier.
