The Fort Worth Herd drives longhorns down East Exchange Avenue at 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. every day, free to watch. Cowtown Coliseum stands on the same street at 121 E Exchange Ave, and its rodeo doors open two hours after the afternoon drive.
The arena clock
The Coliseum publishes a doors clock and a start clock for every weekly show. Stockyards Championship Rodeo runs Friday and Saturday: doors 6:00 p.m., start 7:30 p.m., run time about two hours.
PBR Stockyards Showcase runs Thursday on the same doors clock: doors 6:00 p.m., event 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. A matinee rodeo opens at 12:00 p.m. and starts at 1:30 p.m.
The daily Legacy of the Longhorn begins at 12:30 p.m. and ends at 1:15 p.m., with the last 15 minutes open for photographs in the arena dirt.
Two clocks on one street
A 4:00 p.m. drive leaves two hours to the 6:00 p.m. rodeo door. A meal, a Mule Alley walk or a shop on Exchange fills the interval.
The 11:30 a.m. drive suits a guest who arrives before the room is ready. Ask the property to hold bags at the desk.
The five rooms the venue names
The Coliseum's Preferred Hotels page lists five properties with street addresses, telephone numbers and a Book Now link each. It carries no rate, no block and no cut-off.
Courtyard by Marriott Fort Worth Historic Stockyards, 2537 N Main St, sits 0.22 miles from the door by road. Hotel Drover, 200 Mule Alley, sits 0.25 miles out and carries 200 rooms. Hyatt Place, 132 E Exchange Ave, sits 0.30 miles out. Stockyards Hotel, 109 E Exchange Ave, sits 0.41 miles out. SpringHill Suites, 2315 N Main St, sits 0.52 miles out.
All five sit inside the Stockyards district and inside ZIP 76164. The nearest and the farthest sit 0.30 miles apart.
The district's own Stay page marks Stockyards Hotel closed for renovation. That leaves four bookable properties on the venue's list.
Parking carries its own ladder
Stockyards self-parking prices by day: $12.50 Monday to Wednesday, $17.50 Thursday, $22.50 Friday to Sunday and $32.50 for 24 hours. Trailers and RVs pay $27.50 in the Contestant Lot off Stockyards Blvd.
Seven self-park lots line East Exchange Ave: Lot 2 and Lot 3 at 140, Lot 4 at 409, Lot 5 at 157, Lot 6 at 301, the Reserve Lot at 129 and the Horseshoe Lot at 133.
Valet runs $20 Monday to Thursday and $25 Friday to Sunday on the corner of East Exchange Ave and Mule Alley. The stand opens 11 a.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and closes 11 p.m. Monday to Wednesday and midnight Thursday to Sunday.
Card only, and no lot takes cash.
The Orange Line covers a downtown room
Trinity Metro's Orange Line runs every 15 minutes, seven days a week, from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. Fort Worth Central Station sits 3.75 miles from the Coliseum by road, and the line connects there with TEXRail.
A downtown room keeps that line as the fallback when the Stockyards list fills.
The event that filled the district
Big Guns in Cowtown ran Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at the Coliseum. The NRCHA Foundation built the evening as a fence work showcase with rodeo athletes and NRCHA professionals.
The association names 22 riders, $30,000 in prize money and $55,000 donated to athlete-selected charities. RideTV carries a replay of the night.
The association's calendar runs to July 2027 and holds no second edition. Its Snaffle Bit Futurity, the show Big Guns launched during, closed on Saturday, October 24.
At the door
Every ticket purchase at the Coliseum is non-refundable. Tickets arrive as digital passes through the venue's mobile app, and the box office sells in person as well.
The box office opens 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Bags larger than 14 by 14 by 6 inches are refused, and hard-sided bags are refused. Weapons are refused. Cameras are refused, and cell phones photograph freely. Service dogs enter, and other pets stay out.
No cash changes hands at the box office or the concessions. The venue takes Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.
What to put in the request
Ask each property for the nightly rate on the exact dates, the cancellation deadline in writing, the deposit and the parking charge.
Ask whether the quoted rate holds across the show dates or moves with demand.
Hold a downtown room with a cancellable rate while the Stockyards list settles, and keep the Orange Line timetable for the night.
