One three-hour evening

The 34th Annual Holiday Boat Parade & Party runs on Saturday, December 5, 2026, at The Wharf. The Wharf’s own events listing puts the window at 5pm to 8pm at District Pier. More than 60 decorated boats work the Washington Channel, and fireworks leave a barge in the channel around 8pm. Spectators pay nothing and need no ticket.

Three hours is the booking unit. A Friday arrival and a Sunday departure buy two nights for an event that closes at 8pm. Book the room that puts the group on the pier at five and back in the lobby by eight.

What the landside program holds

The Wharf’s event page names the pieces. A 45-foot nautical tree stands on District Pier. The ice rink runs with monument views. A wood-burning fire pit at Camp Wharf takes s’mores. Santa takes photos in The Grove. Ornament decorating and games run in M Street Landing. Live music and DJs play on all stages, holiday karaoke runs alongside them, and District Square carries a life-sized Joy sign and oversized toy soldiers.

Four hotels on the site

The Wharf’s hotels page lists four properties and describes iconic views across them. Ask for a room that faces the Washington Channel, where the fireworks barge sits.

Pendry Washington DC – The Wharf lists 131 guest rooms and suites, three dining and bar concepts, Spa Pendry and a pool terrace.

Canopy by Hilton Washington DC The Wharf is the first Canopy in North America, built on local design, food and drink.

Hyatt House Washington DC/The Wharf includes complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi, plus H Bar, a fitness center, a seasonal heated rooftop pool and views of the Potomac River.

InterContinental Washington D.C. – The Wharf lists the Willowsong restaurant, Spa Wharf and event space with sweeping views.

Garage capacity before rate

The Wharf runs three underground garages, all open around the clock. Entrances: Garage 1 at 20 Blair Alley SW, 19 Sutton Square SW and 700 Water St SW; Garage 2 at 21 Riley Street SW and 21 Parker Row SW; Garage 3 at 602 Water St SW. Clearance is 8’2” in all three.

The host publishes entrances, clearance and rates. It publishes no space count. Its event-day guidance is to check garage capacity before arrival, because the garages fill fast. None of the three offers reserved or prepaid parking.

Weekend and special event pricing runs $49 for 4 to 12 hours and $62 for 12 to 24. Weekday pricing runs $39 for 4 to 12 hours and $62 for 12 to 24. Special event rates take effect at 4pm on dates with shows on The Anthem calendar and on additional special event days, so a parade Saturday may carry them. Rates reset at 4am.

The prepay route sits two blocks north. Ace Parking at L’Enfant Plaza, 420 10th St SW, takes reservations, and L’Enfant Plaza holds two garages with 1,800 spaces. The ParkMobile app covers The Wharf garages under zone 326, and QR payment requires an exit within 15 minutes.

Metro answers the garage question

Waterfront Station is a five-minute walk from the piers. Riders who reach L’Enfant Plaza can transfer to the free Wharf Shuttle, which stops at CVS and 7th Street Park. Two Capital Bikeshare stations and 260 bike parking spaces sit on site.

What the room rate leaves out

Hyatt House folds breakfast and Wi-Fi into the stay. That covers the Saturday morning meal and the Sunday breakfast before the drive home. Ask each property whether a resort or amenity fee sits inside the quoted rate, and ask for the fee in writing. Pendry publishes a room count. The other three publish none, so ask each one for its inventory and for the number of rooms that face the channel.

House rules that shape the evening

Chairs and coolers are not permitted at The Wharf at any time. District law bars alcohol in public, so drinking stays inside restaurants, licensed patios and licensed event areas. Public restrooms sit at the Fish Market, Transit Pier, 800 Water Street, in the Oculus and at The Terrace. Cameras with lenses longer than six inches need credentialed media status, and monopods, tripods and selfie sticks stay home.

Four questions before you book

Room side. Ask which side of the building the room faces and whether the channel is visible from it.

Garage capacity. Ask what the hotel can confirm about garage capacity on December 5, and get the answer in writing.

Fee placement. Ask whether the amenity fee and the parking charge sit inside the rate you are quoted.

Cancellation. Ask for the deadline in writing. The organizer publishes a weather clause that promises updates on the event page if conditions change.

Book the one night

The parade is free, unticketed, and runs 5pm to 8pm with fireworks at the close. Ask for the channel side, settle the parking plan before the garage fills, and book the single night the fireworks happen.
