The date that sets the budget
World Vaccine Congress Washington 2027 runs 8 to 11 March at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The organiser publishes 3,000 or more attendees, 460 or more speakers, 200 or more exhibitors, 15 workshops and 16 tracks across four days. One pass also admits its holder to the co-located World BioSecurity Congress and Expo USA on the same exhibition floor.
Registration carries a discount that ends on 13 November, 20 days from today. The room decision follows that date.
What 13 November is worth
Read from the organiser’s packages page: the Standard pass with full app access falls from $4,795 to $2,320, a saving of $2,475 and 51.6 per cent. Standard with limited app access falls from $4,495 to $2,020, a saving of 55.1 per cent. The Pharma and Biotech pass with full app access falls from $2,595 to $1,330, 48.8 per cent. Pharma and Biotech with limited access falls from $2,295 to $1,030, 55.1 per cent. The Government, NGO and Academic passes are $795 and $495 with no discount line.
Teams get a second ladder. Three or more passes save 20 per cent, five or more save 40 per cent and ten or more save 50 per cent. Group discounts apply automatically at checkout. The Government, NGO and Academic package carries no group rate. Prices exclude taxes.
The nights the programme supports
The pre-congress workshops all start at 10:00 on Monday 8 March. The published Monday grid lists five workshop sessions, covering HIV vaccines, AMR, antibodies for infectious diseases, global health and vaccine technology. The main congress opens on Tuesday 9 March at 8:59 and runs through Thursday 11 March.
The organiser’s FAQ prints Thursday 11 March as 9:00 to 15:00. The last listed start is 14:20 for the closing keynote, so a same-day flight needs a departure after 15:00.
Check in Sunday 7 March and check out Thursday 11 March for four nights, which puts a guest in the room before the first workshop. A Friday 12 March check-out makes five nights and covers the evening after the close. A Monday arrival is three nights and misses the workshops.
The address to give the driver
The organiser prints 801 Mt. Vernon Place NW, Washington, DC 20001, and the venue phone is (202) 249-3000. Events DC prints 801 Allen Y. Lew Place NW and lists the Mount Vernon Place form as the former address, because the street was renamed for Allen Y. Lew. Both name the same building, and a driver given either will arrive.
What the organiser does not publish about rooms
The congress has a Book your hotel page. It loads a third-party hotel widget configured for the 2026 edition and dated Monday 30 March to Thursday 2 April 2026. The widget lists four Washington properties with a walk time for each: Homewood Suites by Hilton Washington DC Convention Center at five minutes, Hyatt House Washington DC / Downtown / Convention Center at six, Eaton DC at seven and Riggs Washington DC at ten. Every card reads Fully booked. The page prints no rate, no room block, no cut-off date and no booking code. Treat the list as a starting point and take the terms from the property.
The venue publishes the constraints that matter. There is no public parking at the Convention Center. Over 3,000 spaces sit within a three-block radius, and parking regulations are heavily enforced in the surrounding residential blocks. The Green and Yellow lines stop at Mt. Vernon Square/Convention Center, with the station entrance on the southwest corner of 7th and M Street NW and entrances into the building.
The dated sequence
This week, price four nights from 7 to 11 March twice: once on a rate you can cancel and once on a non-refundable rate. Note the gap and note the cancellation deadline on the flexible one. That deadline is the only date that lets you leave.
Before 13 November, buy the pass and then confirm the room. The pass is the fixed cost and the room is the movable one, so a flexible room booked before the deadline keeps both decisions reversible.
On 6 February, 30 days before the workshops, recheck the rate and decide on the fifth night. Availability around a congress of this size tightens in the final month.
Inside the cancellation window, hold the flexible rate while the agenda still has gaps. Move to the cheaper rate once the 15:00 Thursday close is fixed. A cancellable rate costs more per night and buys the option to leave.
The number to ask for
Ask for the tax-inclusive total for the stay. The District’s transient accommodations tax is 15.95 per cent, extended through 30 September 2027, so a $250 night costs $289.88. Ask the property to put the cancellation deadline, the fee after it and the hold on the room in writing. The budget is then one number and the exit is one date.
